I've been making stuff!

And it's taken me nearly all day!

My pile of 6 piddle pads - waterproof pads for use in carseats and pushchairs during potty training (also good for catching spills from drinks cups and ketchup sachets ;)). Constructed from a pretty fleece top layer, a prefold nappy, a cut up waterproof (and machine washable!) table cloth and a cotton backing sheet. 4 in girly colours chosen by my potty training niece. 2 in farm pattern chosen by DS - how can 2 children raised in the same environment, with access to the same toys and experiences revert to the stereotypes so easily?

And some home made san-pro, more delicately named mama-cloth in america ;) These are still in need of tidying up, hand finishing and popper adding, but this is the general idea. These are fleece topped and bottomed, with varying inserts of terry towelling, microfibre and flannel.

Damn It!!

All my crafting seems to be going horribly horribly wrong recently. I started a skirt for my niece, on the sewing machine, which threw a hissy fit a died on me with only one... ONE!!! straight line left to go.

Today I attempted a pair of shorts for DS with the pattern here which turned out... squiffy? the piece that goes up his tummy was several inches too high, but that was fixable. But the legs are too slim for him, and kinda a strange shape. Also, I didnt have a spare tea-towel so I measured an in-use teatowel and cut out of a piece of spare fabric I had. I dont know if that had anything to do with it. And also, the pattern isnt much of a pattern, more an idea. I wasn't sure exactly how/where to cut the lines. Measurement may have been helpful. I'm thinking of deconstructing a pair of existing cheap trousers and drawing around them.

Had a bit of a break from here

I crafted myself out over christmas, so I havent felt like making anything for a while. With a wedding and a tonne of other expenses coming up, I've picked up my needle and thread in an attempt to save some money.

Some felt play food for DS's birthday; tomato slices, chocolate cake, fried eggs, lettuce leaves and ham slices. Also, a knitted carrot. To be added to when I get the time/inclination Bean bags - fabric scraps filled with out of date organic lentils

Bry took the one's I made for FIL for christmas to work with him, and one of his mates was really taken with them, so I've run up a couple more sets. They can fight over who gets the sheep and who gets the tractors (I only had these fleece scraps left; that or pink :p) On my project list now? The Buggy Snuggle that never got finished over Christmas, and some piddle pads for pushchairs and carseats

The gold ones are chamomile oaty bath parcels, the red ones rose and chamomile bath tea-bags

I've also done some bath melts, and a new creation that is body scrub - 1 tub sea salt, add blobs of olive oil until it's a 'scrubby' consistancy. Add peppermint oil, or eucalyptus, which is good for beating the colds.

More christmas makes

T has painted this 'man with Santa hat' onto a pencil case (here) to make a make up bag for his Auntie. I think they are about 99p, which is nice and cheap, but the quality is great, and now it's personalised too. Christmas on a budget? No problem :p He also handprinted this T-shirt from ASDA for his cousin. It cost me £1.75 for the t-shirt, so not an expensive gift, but made to be special

And I made this stocking for DP. With lack of inspiration for anything big to get him, I'm going to get lots of little bits and put them in here for him
